Terms & Conditions

  1. Information on how to enter forms part of the terms and conditions of entry. Entry into the promotion is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  2. The promoter is Qantas Airways Limited (ABN 16 009 661 901) of 203 Coward Street, Mascot, NSW, 2020 (telephone number 02 9691 4147) (Promoter).
  3. The promotion commences at 9.00am (AEST) on Saturday 14 June 2008 and closes at 11.59pm (AEST) on Sunday 31 August 2008 (Promotion Period).
  4. Entry is open only to Australian Residents (Eligible Entrants), excluding directors, management, employees and their immediate families of the Promoter and its related bodies corporate and registered travel companions of employees of the Promoter and its related bodies corporate.
  5. To enter, Eligible Entrants must during the Promotion Period log on to www.qantas.com/wallabies, register their name, number, contact details and other compulsory fields and ‘Describe in 25 words or less what it means to be a Qantas Wallabies supporter’ and submit their entry. Each Eligible Entrant is permitted one entry only into the promotion.
  6. The Promoter is not responsible for any problem or technical malfunction of any communications network or any late, lost, incorrectly submitted, delayed, ineligible, incomplete, corrupted or misdirected entry whether due to error, transmission interruption or otherwise.
  7. A panel of judges will be appointed by the Promoter to judge Eligible Entrants’ entries. Entries will be judged on the creativity of answers given.
  8. The judging will take place at midday (AEST) on Friday 5 September 2008 at the offices of Mike Da Silva and Associates (Aust) Pty Ltd (ABN 50 003 894 022) (MDSA) at 15 Grosvenor Street, Neutral Bay, NSW 2089.The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into. This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winners.
  9. The winner will be notified by phone and in writing within 2 days of judging and his or her name will be published in The Australian newspaper on Tuesday 9 September 2008. The winner must claim the prize by 4.00pm Tuesday 16 September 2008.
  10. There will be one prize. The maximum total prize value is AUD$17950.00 based on the recommended retail value, the exchange rate at the time of printing and the winner’s departure point in Australia. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in the value of the prize.
  11. The prize consists of:
    1. two Qantas adult Business class return tickets (inclusive of all ticket taxes), departing from the winner’s nearest Qantas serviced international airport in Australia (‘Point of Origin’) to Hong Kong (China) on Thursday 30 October 2008 and returning to the Point of Origin on Sunday 02 November 2008;
    2. three nights twinshare accommodation at The Emperor Hotel (4 Star accommodation) in Hong Kong (No1, Wang Tak St, Happy Valley, Hong Kong, +852 2893 3693), checking in on Thursday 30 October 2008 and checking out Sunday 02 November 2008, including breakfast for two adults on Friday 31 October, Saturday 01 November 2008 and Sunday 02 November 2008;
    3. two tickets to attend the Qantas Wallabies v New Zealand All Blacks Bledisloe Test Match at 4:30pm (local time), Hong Kong Stadium, Hong Kong on Saturday 01 November 2008;
    4. AUD$1000 spending money; and
    5. one Qantas Wallabies supporters’ jersey signed by players in the 2008 Qantas Wallabies team.
  12. In the event that the winner is under the age of 18 years, the prize will be awarded to the winner’s parent or legal guardian.
  13. The prize does not include travel insurance, transfers, passports, visas, meals, taxes not included in the price of the ticket, ground transportation or any other costs of a personal nature not stated. Compliance with any health or other government requirements is the responsibility of the prize-winner and their travel companion, if applicable. The Promoter makes no representation as to the safety, conditions or other issues that may exist at any destination. International travel advice can be obtained from various sources, including government, local consular offices and the web site of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
  14. The winner and their nominated travel companion will not accrue Qantas Frequent Flyer points on the prize travel or accommodation and cannot use Qantas Frequent Flyer points or cash to upgrade prize travel or accommodation. Subject to paragraph 18, prize booking must be made via the Promoter by 10.00am Wednesday 17 September 2008. Flight schedules and accommodation arrangements are subject to change without notice. All prize travel on Qantas operated flights will be subject to the Qantas General Conditions of Carriage. If there is any inconsistency between these terms and conditions and the Qantas General Conditions of Carriage, the Qantas General Conditions of Carriage will apply to the extent of the inconsistency
  15. Travel must be taken as stated and the winner and their companion must travel together on all prize flights. The prize is not transferable to another person (unless agreed by the Promoter) or exchangeable for other goods and services and cannot be redeemed for cash. Each element of the prize may only be used on the date (and, if applicable, at the time) stated for that element of the prize in paragraph 11. Any element of the prize that is unused will be forfeited and no compensation will be paid in lieu of that element of the prize. There can be no changes made to travel arrangements once tickets are issued and tickets will not be exchanged for another destination.
  16. If any act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter and which prevents the Promoter from complying with these terms and conditions, the Promoter will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligations and the Promoter reserves the right (subject to any applicable law) to cancel, terminate or modify or suspend this promotion.
  17. The Promoter, its related bodies corporate and their respective officers, employees, contractors and agents will not be liable for any loss, damage or personal injury whatsoever (including but not limited to direct, indirect and consequential loss) suffered or sustained in connection with this promotion, the promotion of this promotion or the use of any prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law).
  18. The Promoter reserves the right to award the prize to the next most original and creative entry if the winner is unable to satisfy these terms and conditions or forfeits or does not claim the prize by 4.00pm Tuesday 16 September 2008. Any re-judging will be held at midday (Sydney time) at MDSA on Wednesday 17 September at 15 Grosvenor Street, Neutral Bay, NSW 2089 and the winner will be notified by phone and in writing within 2 days of judging and his or her name will be published in The Australian newspaper on Friday 19 September 2008.
  19. If for any reason the promotion is not capable of running as planned (including but not limited to) infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter reserves the right (subject to any written directions given under applicable law) to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion.
  20. Entry details remain the property of the Promoter. The name and photograph of the winner may be used for promotional purposes by the Promoter, unless the winner otherwise notifies the Promoter at the time of accepting the prize. Entrants consent to the Promoter using personal information provided in connection with this promotion for the purposes of facilitating the conduct of the promotion and awarding any prizes. Without limiting the foregoing, entrants’ personal information provided in connection with this promotion will be handled in accordance with the Promoter’s Privacy Statement, a copy of which is available at qantas.com.au/info/privacy.
